POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW in STRUCTURAL, FUNCTIONAL and DIFFUSION NEUROIMAGING
Montreal Neurological Institute and McGill Vision Research, McGill University, Montreal, Canada

We are seeking candidates for a funded postdoctoral position, shared between the laboratories of Janine Mendola (McGill Vision Research) and Amir Shmuel (MNI Brain Imaging Centre) at McGill University. The project is situated within a broader team grant that
has structural and functional MRI of normal and clinical populations, as well as drug development and animal disease models. This team project creates an integrated vision with similar MRI protocols used for human and animal imaging. A major goal is to provide
groundwork for a clinical trial.

The successful candidate will investigate pre-cortical and cortical processing of visual information in human subjects with normal vision and with visual disorders using functional MRI (fMRI) and diffusion MRI. Cutting-edge data acquisition and analysis - including
network analysis and machine learning - will be used for the differential diagnosis and prediction of the clinical prognosis of subjects with acute and chronic (e.g. glaucoma) optic nerve trauma. Coordination with parallel animal studies is possible depending
on the interest of the candidate.

The successful candidate will have access to a Siemens 3 Tesla Prisma scanner and a Siemens 7 Tesla Terra scanner. The vision community at McGill consists of about twenty interactive scientists working on psychophysical, computational, neurophysiological, and
brain-imaging aspects of vision. The neuroscience community at McGill is outstanding. Montreal is a cosmopolitan, livable city.

Candidates should (nearly) have a PhD. Candidates with strong analytical skills, and with research experience in computational methods, functional MRI, diffusion MRI, visual neuroscience or cognitive neuroscience, are encouraged to apply. Please send CV, statement of
interests, and names of 2-3 references to janine.mendola@mcgill.ca or to amir.shmuel@mcgill.ca.
