Check out the MiCM website for full details about each program. MiCM ResearchMatch Steps of the ResearchMatch Program: To facilitate this type of matchmaking, the MiCM ResearchMatch Program will be accomplished through the following three steps: Step 1: The McGill life science and clinical research communities are currently being consulted to ask for initial project submissions. Deadline for the initial project submissions is February 26, 2020. Step 2: The McGill data science community will be asked to look through the list of projects via the MiCM website, contact project leads and, if there is a shared interest, develop a joint MiCM project proposal. Call for joint proposals will open February 27, 2020. Step 3: Joint project proposals will be submitted and a number of projects will be selected for funding. Summer Scholars Program How To Apply: The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants should submit the following at [https://micm.genap.ca/home]. * An up-to-date CV * A Cover Letter indicating why does your past experience make you a good fit for this scholars program. In my talk I will present work on how we can use large neuroimaging datasets to examine factors that influence heterogeneity (genetics, age, sex, etc) within specific neurodegenerative disorders. I will then demonstrate how we can use experimental models to further study the impact of neuropathological actors and their influence on neuroanatomical, behavioural, and cognitive trajectories. The goal is to demonstrate how these two streams of inquiry can be used to provide complementary information regarding the significant variability consistently observed in individuals suffering from neurodegenerative disorders. Each year, several leading neuroscientists from around the world meet together at the Universit? de Montr?al to exchange and share their knowledge in order to advance science on the functioning of the central nervous system under both normal and pathological conditions. For this 42nd edition, the Symposium will bring together several experts in INSULA's research. These will notably discuss the role of the insular cortex in emotions, decision-making, psychopathology and neurological diseases. Abstract: The cost of motion during clinical MRI brain examinations is estimated at $115,000 per scanner per year. While internal navigators require no additional equipment or setup, external trackers have the advantage that they estimate motion rapidly, asynchronous with the sequence, and they don?t affect sequence timing or physics. These systems therefore have the potential to improve clinical imaging efficiency without changing clinical protocols. I will present results using an external markerless tracking system and a wireless marker-based tracking system. In ex vivo imaging, motion is no longer a problem and scans can be run for hours or days. I will present some ultra-high-resolution images made possible by combining custom RF receive arrays, high field strengths, and long scan times. In the third section, I will present some results of brain imaging studies in HIV-infected, HIV-exposed-uninfected, and control children in Cape Town, South Africa. Some of the motion tracking techniques were developed with Cape Town colleagues to image pediatric populations in the region. Abstract: Although 7T offers enhanced SNR, contrast and resolution for both imaging and spectroscopy, realizing these enhancements requires overcoming hurdles associated with B1 and B0 inhomogeneity. At 7T rf-tissue interactions and limitations in available RF amplifier power result in increased inhomogeneity and low peak B1 values. This manifests as unwanted intensity variations and chemical shift dispersion errors. The linear increase in B0inhomogeneity at 7T results in increased spatial distortions for EPI based sequences, bandwidth induced errors in MPRAGE sequences and loss of spectral resolution for MRSI. To overcome these limitations for human brain imaging and spectroscopy we have developed an integrated solution for B0 and B1 inhomogeneity at 7T using a 16 channel transceiver array and RF shimming combined with a very high order shim insert. These advancements enable rapid multi-slice spectroscopic imaging, low distortion echo planar imaging and minimization of artifacts in anatomical images of the human head. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
