[BIC-announce] Fwd: Neuro Announcement: Passing of Ms Louise Marcotte

Dear BIC community,

This announcement has been circulated on a couple of internal lists, but everyone in the broader BIC community will be saddened to learn that our esteemed and beloved colleague Louise has passed away following a short battle with cancer.

As soon as we determine the family's wishes regarding memorial arrangements, these will be circulated for those who wish to express condolences.

Louise was at the Neuro for over 30 years, and participated in a great many technological advances.  If anyone has recollections about Louise, especially from the 80s and 90s, I would invite you to share these either directly with me or to the group.

Passing of Ms Louise Marcotte

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LOUISE MARCOTTE on July 24 after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.  Louise leaves a legacy of more than 30 years of dedicated service at The Neuro as an imaging technologist.

After working in Switzerland during the early 1980s, Louise joined The Neuro to operate Neuroradiology’s Body Scan system.  She subsequently helped to introduce many technological advances, operating a succession of increasingly powerful MRI scanners. In the 1990s, Louise scanned patients and research volunteers using a variety of imaging modalities, and it was she who acquired the first human images on our whole-body 7-tesla MRI scanner installed in 2019.

During her long tenure here, Louise touched many colleagues, patients, and trainees with her kindness and professionalism.  Outside of work, Louise loved the outdoors and led an active life that included skiing, snowshoeing, tennis, and walking.  Those who worked closely with Louise will remember her passion for cooking and the wonderful baked goods she shared so generously with all.

Louise will be greatly missed. We extend our sincerest condolences to her family and friends.  Memorial details are forthcoming and will be circulated according to the family's wishes.
