Best wishes, Nikola ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Franco Pestilli Date: Tue, Sep 1, 2015 at 6:17 PM Subject: postdoc To: Nikola Stikov Dear Nikola How are you? We just received notification of a grant that can support a postdoc for up to a couple of years. I was wondering whether you could spread the voice in your institute. It is an exciting project with lot?s of methods to work on. I look forward to hearing rom you. Best regards, Franco --------------------------------------- Dear Community, We are looking for a talented individual to work on a large-scale neuroimaging project funded by the Indiana CTSI . The project aims at applying cutting-edge neuroimaging and connectomics methods (Pestilli et al., Nature Methods 2014 ; Mi?i? et al., Neuron 2015 ) on the latest generation of data from Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center . The project is a collaboration between groups at Indiana University Bloomington (Franco Pestilli and Olaf Sporns), Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis (Andrew Saykin, Li Shen, and Yu-Chien, Wu) and Purdue University, Lafayette (Joaquin Go?i). The team has strong expertise in aging and Alzheimer?s disease, imaging genetics, network science, magnetic resonance imaging measurements and computational modeling. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, Informatics or Cognitive Science. Strong programming skills (e.g., in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++) and previous background in neuroimaging, computational modeling, or machine learning will be highly valued. The project will involve developing and publishing software products as well as contributing to ongoing software projects such as: https://francopestilli.github.io/life and https://sites.google.com/site/bctnet/. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating successful productivity by means of scientific articles and software publishing. Interested candidates should send CV, statement of research interests, and names of three references to Dr. Franco Pestilli franpest at indiana.edu. Review of the applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled. Dr. Pestilli and Professor Sporns will be available at SfN in Chicago for informal meetings with potential candidates. Indiana University is an equal employment and affirmative action employer and a provider of ADA services. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ethnicity, color, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or identity, national origin, national origin, disability status or protected veteran status. Our group brings together graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Neurology. We use high- and ultra-high field (3 and 7T) structural and functional MRI analysis to characterize cortical architecture, function, metabolism, and networks. We seek to identify novel patient phenotypes and biomarkers of disease. Main topics include automated lesion detection through neuroimage-based machine-learning, surface-based subcortical and cortical modelling, analysis of brain networks using graph-theory. We are interested in tracking disease progression and its consequences on brain plasticity, connectivity, and cognition. The postdoctoral fellow will carry our research projects that combine multi-modal neuroimaging with advanced data analysis (graph theoretical network analysis, machine learning, multivariate modeling) in large and well-documented cohorts of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. Possibility to participate in several multi-centric and longitudinal studies. Requirements: PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Engineering, or related fields; experience in neuroimaging, data analysis, programming; strong publication record. The PhD student will perform research centered on the development of neuroimaging applications to improve our understanding and diagnostic routines of human epilepsy. The PhD will be carried out within the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University (IPN, https://www.mcgill.ca/ipn/), the largest inter-disciplinary, inter-departmental graduate program in neuroscience in Canada. Requirements: MSc in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields; solid mathematical and statistical knowledge; previous experience in neuroimaging and data analysis is an asset. The full-time research assistant (RA) will help with subject recruitment; administration of questionnaires and neurocognitive tasks; MRI scheduling and data acquisition (with assistance of technician); data quality-control and image processing; database management; technical support. Requirements: BSc/BA in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or related fields; organizational talent and computer skills; willingness to accept flexible working schedule; knowledge of French (spoken and written). All candidates are expected to show strong communication skills and willingness to learn and help others within a multidisciplinary team. Starting dates are flexible. ** Full applications (cover letter, CV, and names of 2 referees; PhD candidates should also send transcripts) should be sent to: andrea.bernasconi at mcgill.ca -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Advantages include an improved channel count (up to 64 from 32), improved gradient performance, and compatibility with future pulse sequence developments. We are sensitive to the concern surrounding longitudinal studies, and will do our best to adapt the timing to accommodate these. It would be helpful if any researchers could advise me of any studies where a change in scanner platform is of particular concern, for both the 1.5 and 3T platforms. In particular it would be helpful to get the following info: Name of PI Name of study When study started When study would ideally end How many subjects already scanned How many remaining to scan List of the scans you are doing (MPRAGE, EPI BOLD, diffusion, etc.) Any non-product sequences (WiP or C2P) you use What RF coil do you use? (usually 12 or 32-channel) Any specific concerns related to the upgrade If could provide the above info, and cc Katerina at the bic-finance.mni email above, it would be a big help for planning.
