  *BIC Lecture Series: Fall-2011 Program*

*Please join us for our fifth lecture of the season, which will be held at
1:00 pm on Monday, October the 31st, at The Neuro's de Grandpré
Communications Centre<http://neuromedia.mcgill.ca/mnibooking/facdirections/dgccdir.htm>
 (3801
University Street, Montreal, QC, H3A 2B4).*
*
*
*This lecture will be given by Dr. Amir
Shmuel<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/~amirs/index.html>,
who will give us an introduction to the neural basis of the fMRI signal,
with a focus on common BOLD response*
**

The BIC Lecture
Series<http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Seminars/BICLectureSeries>features
informal lectures on brain imaging presented at the McConnell
Brain Imaging Centre <http://www.bic.mni.mcgill.ca/Main/HomePage> (*BIC*)
at The Neuro <http://www.mni.mcgill.ca/> by experts in the field. These
lectures are informative and open to all.

The Fall-2011 Program of the BIC Lecture Series (see below) will feature a
number of introductory presentations to get you up to speed on some of the
basics of magnetic resonance imaging (*MRI*), functional MRI (*fMRI*), magnetic
resonance spectroscopy (*MRS*), diffusion tensor imaging (*DTI*), and
electroencephalography (*EEG*) and magnetoencephalography (*MEG*) -- as
well as how these are used to study the brain and its functions. [Please
note that this season's BIC Lectures will be given in conjunction with the
new "Human Brain Imaging" graduate-level course
(NEUR-570)<http://www.mcgill.ca/ipn/courses#570>,
which is being offered through McGill University's Integrated Program in
Neuroscience <http://www.mcgill.ca/ipn/>.]

We hope to see there!
Zografos Caramanos, Petra Schweinhardt, Amir Shmuel, Sridar Narayanan, and
Jennifer Chew (Organizers)
