From jennifer.chew at mcgill.ca Fri Jun 1 09:40:23 2007 From: jennifer.chew at mcgill.ca (Jennifer Chew, Ms.) Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2007 09:40:23 -0400 Subject: [BIC-announce] FW: course announcement Message-ID: FORWARDING ON BEHALF OF PROF. JORGE ARMONY. JENNIFER ---------------------- The graduate course "Methods in Neuroimaging" (NEU606) will be offered again this Fall term through the Graduate Program in Neurological Sciences. This course will focus on fMRI experimental design and data analysis. The emphasis will be on the underlying conceptual and statistical issues (i.e., there will be a fair amount of math involved), but concrete applications using SPM and fmristat will also be covered. In order to maximize discussions and interactions among participants, the enrollment will be limited to 12 students. Priority will be given to those students with little or no experience with fMRI analysis, but who are already using, or about to use, this technique in their M.Sc. or Ph.D. research project. Early official registration is strongly encouraged, as there will likely be no room for auditing. Classes will take place on Thursdays 1-4 PM at the Douglas Hospital (Verdun). Formal evaluation will be based on weekly take-home assignments, class participation and a final project. If you are interested in taking this course, please email the Instructor (jorge.armony at mcgill.ca) for approval, using a university address (i.e., no hotmail, gmail, etc). Please include your current position (program, year, supervisor), your experience (if any) with fMRI, and a very brief description of your research project. For any other registration-related questions or problems, please contact the graduate office (gpns at mcgill.ca). The course is open to graduate students from other universities. ------------------------ From jennifer.chew at mcgill.ca Mon Jun 4 09:22:45 2007 From: jennifer.chew at mcgill.ca (Jennifer Chew, Ms.) Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2007 09:22:45 -0400 Subject: [BIC-announce] FW:a little request Message-ID: This message is being sent on behalf of Diane Bedrossian. Thank you. Jennifer Hi everyone! First off, I am writing to thank everyone that has helped sponsor me in the walk I am doing for The Weekend to End Breast Cancer on August 24-26, 2007 and to give you a small update as to how things are going. I have now raised $1,100 and my personal goal is set at $5,000. Not only does this walk mean a lot to me on a personal basis due to family members of mine affected by this disease, but I'm sure many of us have known someone who has suffered through breast cancer as well. I realize many of us are students, but every little bit (for whatever amount will help and will mean so much to me...and donations of $10 or more are tax deductable) The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, treatment, and services through the Jewish General Hospital. Use the link at the bottom of this email, and go visit my site - and please take the time to support me. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Sincerely, Diane :) Click here to visit my personal page. Importance: High Hello Everyone, As most of you had heard by now, the MUHC is experiencing some serious issues with a Trojan Virus affecting most Microsoft Windows systems. Internet connectivity to the MUHC has been interrupted to contain the Trojan virus thus preventing it from spreading to systems outside the MUHC network. All MUHC Windows based computers will be considered "compromised" or affected by the Trojan virus until told otherwise. I was advised by McGill's IST security group to ensure that all MNI/McGill Networked MS Windows based computers are running Symantec Antivirus with up to date virus definitions. Symantec Antivirus is being offered by McGill University to all staff and students for FREE. The software can also be used for home based computers. If you do not have Symantec Antivirus installed on your Windows system, you can download the software through the following link: http://elms04.e-academy.com/mcgill/ You must have a valid McGill username to download the software. Your McGill Username is based on your real name with the suffix @mcgill.ca or @mail.mcgill.ca (e.g. first.last at mcgill.ca) and is used with your McGill Password to log into many online services and IT systems at McGill. It is the same as your McGill Email Address . Your McGill password is the same as your email password.
