Subject: Killam Lecture - Tomorrow

Dear All,

Please join us tomorrow at 4:00 for our first Killiam seminar of the
year. Chuck Wilson and his group at UCLA have recorded and studied
extensively high frequency oscillations (100 to 500Hz) in epileptic
patients and in animal models of epilepsy. Their pioneering work of the
last few years has created quite a stir as it is the first time that
these oscillations are recorded in patients. They have attempted to
characterize which of these oscillations are normal and which are
pathological, as well as tried to understand how they participate in
epileptogenesis and in seizure generation, in patients and in
experimental animals. Their most recent work attemps to relate
electrophysiological studies with high resolution imaging to understand
better the abnormal circuitry.
